Fitness Persons That Defy Stereotypes
We live in a society that is not as open minded and progressive as we expect it to be and therefore, people are judged based on tribes, ethnicity, religion, fashion sense, class and even profession or career path. There’s nothing that’s more important to me than to see a world that is less discriminatory and narrow minded.
So today, on this post, I am going to highlight some stereotypes given to bodybuilding and fitness persons and some who’ve defied these stereotypes. I consider most of the people on this list as friends and acquaintances because they’ve won my respect for staying true to who they are in an industry that is so competitive, yet judgmental in a lot of ways.
Fitness people are NOT Spiritual or Religious

I was searching for my other pastor fitness friend’s handle on IG which led me to pastor Brodney instead. I had already spoken about my other friend on my other website before so there this goes, Pastor Brodney. And, there are many fitness pastors but I decided to go with Brodney just because he is soo fit and loves the lord. It is so surprising that God’s wielded brains could process one’s ability or will to lift metals as being non-religious or spiritual. It really beats me.
Fitness Persons are Promiscuous:

In an interview with Zion Felix, the fitness trainer, bodybuilder who’s been in fitness competitions slipped out an uncomfortable truth, “I am a virgin”. It sucks that this sentence in our time has become so difficult to say but I was so proud to hear him say those words and owning it. In an industry where fitness persons are expected to instantaneously lose their personalities and wear a different persona that ‘fits’ the part, I am glad he’s defied it. You can find him on instagram @the_celebrity_trainer . He is very professional and good at what he does.
Fitness Persons Are Lazy and Unfocused:

If this stereotype about fitness people isn’t daft, then I don’t know what else is. A human being CANNOT be into fitness if they are lazy or unfocused. It just doesn’t work. In fact, in a more progressive world, employers are more likely to employ individuals who are into fitness or other sports because of their ‘go-getting’ and determined spirit. This man right here!! King Jews! I have not seen a hustler, a go-getter, a ‘pusher’ like him in a while. He pulls oFf different kinds of earnest jobs, always pushing, determined and at worst, tries to push those around him to work harder to achieve their goals. For girls, who maybe spying, I am sorry to announce that he is happy with his girlfriend of many years. lol. He is an awesome fitness trainer. You can reach him on IG: @Kingjews
Fitness Persons are NOT family and career Oriented:

“I just can’t think far” with some of these assumptions and stereotypes. Totally ridiculous! There are so many rich and famous fitness persons such as Dwayne Johnson, Vin Diesel, John Cena..who are also family oriented as well. We can take a look at Ulisseworld who’s a great family man too. But this guy right here has it all! He is a banker and married to a very beautiful woman. It does not keep him from the gym and getting ‘dem gains’ tho. You can look him up on IG: @niibrooklyn
Read this most important part and never forget it; no matter how you identify, what you do, or who you are, never compromise your true self to fit into an idea of society’s expectation. You may betray yourself in the process and may never be able to forgive you. There is no better way to identify as a trainer, a black man, an atheist, a muslim, an eve, a woman than just being YOU. You are not responsible for other people’s expectations of you.
